Robert Wadlow – Hayes Shoe Store

Hayes Shoe Store – Mr. Robert Wadlow was recorded as the tallest man who ever lived. A native of Alton, IL, his shoes ended up in Cuba. Stop by the Hayes Shoe Store and see Mr. Waldow’s shoes, a mere 37AA. Then get your phone ready for a selfie with the life-sized cardboard cutout of Mr. Wadlow. The Hayes Shoe store also has a unique exterior – a mural of Prosperity Corner at the turn of the century.

Deadpool at Little Shop of Comics

Little Shop of Comics – Love superheroes? This place is filled top to bottom with comics, superheroes, books, board games, and an eatery too! Get a silly selfie with everyone’s favorite bad boy, Deadpool. Yep, this Marvel badass stands 6ft tall in the center of the shop. While there, get a bite to eat at Audrey’s Eatery where meals are inspired and paired with recently released comic books.

Frisco’s Train Sculpture

Frisco’s Pub and Grill – Pose with your friends in front of a train. Ok, not a real train, but one that can sit in front of without injury! This unique art installation by Glen and Curtis Tutterrow includes a cowcatcher seat so the whole gang can get in the photo. Then step inside of Frisco’s Pub and Grill for comfort food and a train ride.  All aboard to flavor town.

Osage Legacy Trail

Cuba Visitor Center – Stand in front of a 35’ steel sculpture for a selfie with an ancient Osage family on the move. The Osage Trail Legacy monument pays homage to the tribe and their history in Missouri. The sculpture was created by a father and son team and brought to life by the community. Inside the Visitor Center watch a short documentary about the artist, the tribe, and their trail system through the Ozarks.

Amelia Earhart Mural Along Route 66

Cuba MO Mural City – One can’t drive through Cuba without noticing at least one of the 15 murals around town. A favorite among Route 66 travelers is the mural that features America’s sweetheart, Amelia Earhart. Her brief encounter in Cuba will long be remembered for decades to come in this public space.  Artist Shelly Smith Steiger and Julie Brand Balogh provide a historical depiction of what it was like to be a woman pilot. Stand proudly for an all-American selfie next to a national treasure, Amelia Earhart.
